The Diocletian’s Palace was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1979. It is one of the best-preserved monuments of Roman construction in the world. The Palace was built in 305 as a combination of a luxury villa and Roman military camp (castrum), divided into four parts by two main streets.

Vestibul

Split Vestibul

It was built of Brač stone, and decorative details such as sphinxes, marble, and carved decorations were brought from Egypt, Italy, and Greece. The southern part of the palace was intended for the Emperor, and the northern part for the imperial army, servants, storage, etc..

We ended our three-day stay in Split with a tour of the city with Daniela. And it was by far our highlight of our time in the city and our trip would have been incomplete without it... Not only did Daniela give us the historical and cultural information for which we were looking, she shared with us her infectious positive attitude and even gave us a traditional ornament made by her grandmother. Unlike others we have taken, her tour was honest, informative, personalized and fun. Thank you, Daniela, for going above and beyond for us.
We just got back from a 3-week Croatia trip, and I want to say how happy we were with the Booker agency and especially Daniela. She was so great. After the 5-islands tour with them, we were on the Krka tour the next day, and, during the wine tasting there, I casually asked Daniela if her agency had a short walking tour around Split, since we hadn’t yet discovered the city much. She instantly set one up for us for the next morning...mainly throughout the Diocletian Palace – and it was so nice and informative. Thanks for everything!
The split tour experince I had with Daniela as a guide was just AMAZING!!!! I was the only one turist that day and I felt so lucky! The old city looks like an open museum, and every corner of it has an hidden story behind which was promptly explained by my guide Daniela. Daniela is unique in her job. She knows how to involve, interact, entertain and challenge you during the whole tour. I felt like I could stay for hours listening to her stories and anecdotes around the city and in general the city culture. This is absolute the best experience ever I had in Split and I absolute recommend you to do it
